Ingredients

  • 10-inch unbaked pie shell
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 5 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 2 cups mincemeat
  • 8 peeled and cored apple rings
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Prepare the 10-inch unbaked pie shell.
  2. Combine 3/4 cup brown sugar with 1/3 cup flour; sprinkle about 3 tablespoons of this mixture over the pie shell.
  3. Layer peeled and sliced apples in the shell, sprinkling each layer with the remaining sugar-flour mixture, reserving 3 tablespoons.
  4. Spread the top with 2 cups of mincemeat, reserving 1/2 cup for later.
  5. Arrange 8 peeled and cored apple rings on top of the mincemeat.
  6. Fill the centers of the apple rings with the remaining mincemeat.
  7. Sprinkle the pie with the remaining sugar-flour mixture and dot with 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine.
  8. Bake at 425°F for about 40 minutes, until apples are tender.
