Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 cups packaged biscuit mix
  • 3/4 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together sugar, chopped walnuts, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together packaged biscuit mix, shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, and chopped apple.
  3. Make a well in the center of the cheese mixture.
  4. Add cold water all at once, stirring just until moistened. Form the dough into a ball.
  5. Divide the dough into 18 equal pieces.
  6. Shape each piece into a ball.
  7. Roll each ball in melted butter or margarine, then in the sugar mixture.
  8. Arrange the coated balls in a greased 9-inch round baking pan, spaced evenly.
  9. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the biscuits to cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
  11. Remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack.
  12. Serve warm.
