Apple Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon baking soda ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg ⓘ
- 2 eggs ⓘ
- 1/4 cup milk ⓘ
- 1/4 cup melted oleo (butter) ⓘ
- 2 medium apples shredded ⓘ
- 2/3 cup brown sugar ⓘ
- 1 cup quick oatmeal ⓘ
- 1 cup chopped walnuts ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg in a large bowl.
- Stir in the brown sugar, quick oatmeal, and chopped walnuts.
- In a separate bowl, combine the eggs, milk, and melted oleo (butter).
- Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the shredded apples carefully to avoid overmixing.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 5 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes before turning out of the pan.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before wrapping.
