Ingredients

  • 1 prebaked 9-inch shell
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 3 large cooking apples peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a pot.
  2. Add apples and vanilla, then cover and cook until soft but not mushy, shaking the pan occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, adding more if needed.
  4. Place the apple filling into the prebaked pie shell.
  5. Blend the beaten eggs with the heavy cream and pour over the apples.
  6. Bake at 375°F for about 25 minutes or until the custard is just set.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.
