- Add the well-beaten eggs and applesauce or jam, and beat thoroughly.

- Add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Beat thoroughly after each addition.
- Pour the batter into a well-oiled loaf pan.
- Bake in a moderate 375°F (190°C) oven for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
