Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • apricot preserves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • finely chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Add cut-up margarine to flour and mix with fingers.
  2. Make a well in the flour mixture; add egg yolks and sugar that have been mixed together.
  3. Mix with fingers; sprinkle with 2 tablespoons cold water and continue to work with fingers.
  4. Form into a ball, wrap in wax paper, and refrigerate until chilled.
  5. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  6. Take dough out and divide into 2 balls; refrigerate one.
  7. Roll part of the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Cut into 2 1/2-inch rounds.
  9. Place rounds on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  10. Put 1/2 teaspoon of apricot preserves in the center of each round and pinch around the edge or use a fork to seal.
  11. Brush the tops with a mixture of 1 beaten egg and 1 tablespoon milk.
  12. Sprinkle with finely chopped nuts.
  13. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly brown, then remove from oven and cool.
