Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Cream together margarine, sugar, and eggs in a bowl.
  2. Add sour milk, salt, baking powder, baking soda, mashed bananas, and vanilla; mix together.
  3. Add the flour and beat until well combined.
  4. Stir in 1 cup of nuts if desired.
  5. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. For small loaves, bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before removing from the pan.
