Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 2 c. cubed, firm textured bread
  • 1 c. sharp cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Crisp the bacon and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a 1-quart casserole dish.
  3. Add bread cubes to the melted butter and toss well to coat.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the bread and toss again.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, and salt.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese in the casserole.
  7. Crumble the cooked bacon and sprinkle over the top.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until set and golden, about 30 minutes.
