Ingredients

  • 3 lb. canned ham
  • 20 oz. can pie-sliced apples, drained
  • 17 oz. vacuum-packed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 oz. process Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Scrape gelatin and excess fat from ham, reserving 1/3 cup of the gelatin.
  2. Make 4 evenly spaced slits in the top of the ham, about 1-inch deep.
  3. Place the ham and reserved gelatin in a 10-inch round or 11 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch baking pan.
  4. Arrange apple slices and sweet potatoes around the ham.
  5. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over all.
  6. Bake, uncovered, in a 325°F oven for 1 1/4 hours, basting occasionally.
  7. Remove from oven.
  8. Cut Swiss cheese slice diagonally to form 4 triangles.
  9. Insert one triangle into each ham slit.
  10. Return the ham to the oven.
  11. Bake for 1 minute more, or just until cheese triangles melt slightly.
