Baked peppers stuffed with a savory mixture of ground meat, vegetables, and bread, baked to perfection. A hearty, flavorful dish perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 12 whole bell peppers
  • 1 lb ground meat
  • 1/2 cup leftover baked ham
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 loaf French bread or 3-4 slices white bread
  • 2-3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Fry ground meat until brown.
  2. Drain off fat.
  3. Cook onion, celery, and green peppers in water until tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Soak French bread or white bread in milk or water to soften.
  5. Beat eggs well and add all ingredients together.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Cut peppers in half.
  8. Add filling to each pepper half.
  9. Add a small amount of water to a large baking pan.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes until firm and brown.
