Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 3/4 cups rolled quick oats
  • 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the beaten egg, mashed bananas, rolled oats, and chocolate chips; mix well.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
