Ingredients

  • 1 (5.1 oz.) pkg. vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 can Borden Eagle Brand milk
  • 1 (12 oz.) carton frozen Cool Whip, let soften
  • 1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 4 to 6 bananas
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c. light brown sugar
  • dash of cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. Kahlua
  • 4 small bananas
  • 1 pt. vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 c. toasted slivered almonds or chopped nuts
  • 4 to 5 seedless oranges (navel)
  • 2 tsp. grated lemon rind

Instructions

  1. Slice off the peel and white membrane from oranges with a sharp knife; cut crosswise into thin slices, about 1/4-inch thick. Place in a large serving dish, spreading out as much as possible.
  2. Sprinkle the lemon rind and lemon juice over the oranges.
  3. Combine the light brown sugar and dash of cinnamon.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the oranges.
  5. Let stand in refrigerator for several hours, basting with juice.
  6. Can be covered and refrigerated overnight.

Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider using ripe bananas for a sweeter taste. If you don’t have Kahlua, a coffee-flavored syrup or a splash of coffee can be a good substitute. For those looking for a lighter version, you could replace sour cream with Greek yogurt. Ensure the Cool Whip is fully softened for easier mixing.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Banana Supreme Pudding chilled, garnished with extra sliced bananas and a sprinkle of toasted almonds for crunch. It pairs beautifully with Oven-Baked Parmesan Potatoes for a delightful meal. This dessert also complements well with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. If the bananas begin to brown, consider adding a bit of lemon juice to slow down the oxidation. For best results, avoid freezing the pudding, as it may change the texture of the ingredients.
