Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 to 1 Tbsp. garlic
  • 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated skim milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Saute onion in the vegetable oil until tender.
  2. Stir in the flour and garlic until smooth.
  3. Slowly stir in the evaporated skim milk.
  4. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and begins to thicken, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese, basil, and black pepper.
  6. Serve on hot pasta.
