Batter Whip Rolls are soft, fluffy yeast rolls with a light texture and slightly sweet flavor, perfect for breakfast or as a side for hearty meals. Suitable for all occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/3 cup soft shortening
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Pour the warm water into a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast and let stand a few minutes until dissolved.
  2. Add half of the flour, sugar, salt, and soft shortening to the bowl. Add the egg and beat at medium speed or by hand until smooth.
  3. Stop the mixer and add the rest of the flour. Stir by hand until the flour disappears and the batter is smooth.
  4. Scrape batter from the sides of the bowl. Cover with wax paper and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  5. Drop the risen batter into a greased muffin pan. Let rise to the top, about 20 minutes.
  6. Bake in a hot oven at 425°F until golden brown, approximately 20 minutes.
