Ingredients
- 2 lb. sirloin steak ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. instant onion or 1/2 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder ⓘ
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce ⓘ
- 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms (undrained) ⓘ
- 2 tsp. instant bouillon or 2 beef bouillon cubes ⓘ
- 2 1/2 cups water ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. salt ⓘ
- dash of pepper
- 1/4 cup cornstarch ⓘ
Instructions
- Cut the sirloin steak into strips.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown the steak strips in the oil.
- Add chopped onion or instant onion and garlic powder; cook until onion is tender.
- Pour in soy sauce, add beef bouillon, sliced mushrooms with their liquid, and 2 cups of water.
- Cover and simmer until the meat is tender, approximately 40 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine remaining water and cornstarch to make a slurry.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the meat and mushroom sauce, stirring until thickened.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles.
