- Prepare the macaroni according to package instructions and drain.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet, then drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, browned beef, cream of mushroom soup, tomatoes, shredded Cheddar cheese, chopped green pepper, and salt.
- Pour half of the mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle half of the French fried onions on top of the mixture in the casserole.
- Pour the remaining mixture over the onions.
- Cover the casserole dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
- Bake at 325°F (160°C) for 45 to 60 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
