Ingredients

  • 3 to 5 lb. chuck or shoulder roast
  • 1 pkg. onion soup mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place the chuck or shoulder roast on heavy-duty foil in a baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the onion soup mix over the roast.
  4. Pour mushrooms and liquid over the roast.
  5. Seal the foil over the roast in the pan.
  6. Put in the preheated oven and bake for up to 2 1/2 hours.
  7. If making gravy, drain the juices into a saucepan.
  8. Put 3 tablespoons of flour in a small jar.
  9. Add 1 cup of water and shake vigorously to make a slurry.
  10. Pour the slurry into the heated juices.
  11. Cook until the gravy reaches the desired thickness.
  12. Add more water if needed.
