Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the steak in soy sauce and garlic for an hour before cooking. If flank or round steak isn't available, sirloin or even pork can be delicious substitutes. Be mindful not to overcook the mushrooms; they should be tender but still retain some texture. For a thicker sauce, you can adjust the cornstarch mixture to your preference.

Serving Suggestions

This dish pairs beautifully with rice or egg noodles, soaking up the rich sauce. For a balanced meal, serve alongside steamed vegetables like broccoli or a fresh salad. For a heartier option, consider serving with mashed potatoes, which complement the savory flavors. Explore more beef recipes to find additional inspiration.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the beef and mushrooms in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth to prevent drying out. Stir occasionally until heated through, ensuring the sauce is warm and flavorful.
