Ingredients

  • 1 lb. spicy bulk sausage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 (48 oz.) jar Randall Great Northern beans
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can pinto beans
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can black beans
  • 1 (15 to 15 1/2 oz.) can white beans
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. bottled smoky flavor barbecue sauce
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. Dijon-style mustard
  • 8 to 12 oz. beer

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausage, breaking it up, and sauté the onion in the same pan.
  2. Drain the sausage and onion mixture and crumble into a large bowl.
  3. Add all the beans, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, mustard, and beer to the bowl.
  4. Pour the mixture into a bean pot or casserole dish.
  5. Bake uncovered at 300°F (150°C) for 4 to 5 hours, checking for moisture content around 3 1/2 hours.
  6. Stir in more beer if the beans become too dry.
