Ingredients

  • 10-ounce package frozen tart shells
  • 2 quarts fresh blackberries
  • 1 (16-ounce) package frozen blackberries, thawed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Bake tart shells according to package directions; cool completely.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water, 1 1/4 cups sugar, self-rising flour, and butter.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, gently toss blackberries with the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and 1/8 teaspoon vanilla.
  6. Fill the cooled tart shells with the berry mixture.
  7. Pour the cooked pudding over the berries in each tart shell.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
