Ingredients

  • 1 c. molasses
  • 4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. margarine or shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 6 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Boil molasses over heat for 1 minute.
  2. Remove from stove and in the same pan add baking soda, margarine or shortening, sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, beaten eggs, and vinegar.
  3. Stir in flour and mix well.
  4. Roll the dough into balls, place on a greased cookie sheet, and press down with a fork.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
