Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, and herbs before cooking. You can substitute fresh thyme and rosemary with dried herbs if needed, just remember to use less as dried herbs are more potent. If you want a lighter version, replace light cream with evaporated milk or a plant-based cream alternative.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the chicken magnificently over a bed of fluffy rice or alongside buttered noodles for a hearty meal. Pair it with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables to balance the richness of the dish. This recipe also pairs beautifully with Helen'S Favorite Chicken And Dumplings for a comforting dinner spread.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm gently on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of water or cream to maintain moisture. You can also microwave it, covering with a damp paper towel to prevent drying out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chicken thighs instead of breasts?

Absolutely! Chicken thighs will add extra flavor and moisture to the dish. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time as thighs may take a bit longer to cook through compared to breasts.

What can I use instead of cream of chicken soup?

You can use homemade cream of chicken soup by combining chicken broth, milk, and a thickening agent like flour or cornstarch. Alternatively, cream of mushroom soup works well for a different flavor profile.

Is there a way to make this recipe gluten-free?

Yes, to make it gluten-free, ensure the cream of chicken soup is certified gluten-free or make your own. You can also use gluten-free flour or cornstarch as a thickener in the sauce.
