Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 square chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk with 1 teaspoon soda dissolved
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar well.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Add flour alternately with buttermilk; add melted chocolate with warm water and vanilla.
