Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter or margarine with the brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Combine the beaten egg with the milk.
  3. Add the sifted plain flour, soda, and baking powder to the sugar mixture and mix well.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the egg-milk mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing after each addition.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into well-greased muffin pans.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
