Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. sour cream
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add sugar and sour cream to the eggs and mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until smooth.
  5. Optionally, add a tablespoon of oil to help when the mixture is thick.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared cake pans to make three layers.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool before assembling.
