Ingredients

  • 16 oz. pre-cooked smokie sausage links
  • 8 slices bread
  • 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Slice 3 sausage links into 1/2-inch pieces.
  2. Reserve some sausage slices for top garnish.
  3. Slice each remaining sausage link into 3 or 4 pieces.
  4. Place sausage pieces into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Layer bread cubes over the sausage.
  6. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the bread.
  7. Beat together eggs, milk, evaporated milk, cream of mushroom soup, and seasonings.
  8. Pour the egg mixture over the contents of the pan.
  9. Cover the pan tightly with foil or a lid.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Uncover and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
  12. Let stand about 2 minutes to firm up before serving.
