Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 cup cream or condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the sifted flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Scald the milk and cool it to lukewarm.
  3. Crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk and add 2 teaspoons of sugar.
  4. Let the mixture bubble to activate the yeast.
  5. Add the yeast mixture to the beaten egg yolks in the cream or condensed milk.
  6. Mix well until combined.
  7. Add the liquid mixture to the flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
  8. Refrigerate the dough overnight.
  9. Next morning, divide the dough into 6 equal parts.
  10. Roll each part into a thin roll and twist two rolls together to form a ring.
  11. Place each ring in a greased pie pan.
  12. Let the rings rise for about 2 hours.
  13. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
