Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 2 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 2 c. puffed rice cereal
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt onto waxed paper.
  3. Cream margarine and brown sugar with electric mixer at medium speed until fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until fluffy.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Add flour mixture, one third at a time, until well blended.
  7. Stir in rolled oats, rice cereal, and chopped walnuts.
  8. Drop by teaspoonfuls, about 1 inch apart, onto large cookie sheets lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies are firm and lightly golden.
  10. Remove from oven and transfer to wire racks to cool.
