Cabbage bundles feature seasoned meat wrapped in tender cabbage leaves, baked in a savory tomato sauce. A hearty, family-friendly dish packed with flavor and comforting goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can water
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • 3/4 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • cabbage leaves

Instructions

  1. Mix hamburger, salt and pepper, chili powder, chopped onion, rice, and egg as you would for a meat loaf.
  2. Set aside the meat mixture.
  3. Wilt cabbage leaves in boiling water until soft.
  4. Form logs of the meat mixture and roll each in a cabbage leaf.
  5. Place the cabbage bundles in a pan with a lid.
  6. Pour tomato sauce and water over the bundles.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour.
