Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup dry milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ice water

Instructions

  1. Mix the whole wheat flour, dry milk, salt, garlic powder, and brown sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add the shortening and mix until the mixture resembles cornmeal.
  3. Add the beaten egg and ice water, then stir until a dough forms.
  4. Pat the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
