Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 c. milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, bread crumbs, milk, beaten egg yolks, salt, pepper, and nutmeg to the ground beef and mix well.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the meat mixture.
  3. Pinch off small portions of the mixture and roll into tiny balls, keeping hands well-greased with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Place the meat balls in a greased casserole dish, uncovered.
  5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35 minutes.
  6. Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the meat balls and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
