Cavetini is a hearty baked pasta dish combining savory ground beef, Italian tomatoes, peppers, olives, and melty cheese, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 2 (No. 2) cans stewed Italian tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 can Italian tomato paste
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • 1 can black olives
  • 1 lb pasta (wheels and spirals)
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • garlic
  • oregano
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground chuck in a skillet and drain well.
  2. Cook the pasta until al dente and drain.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat, pasta, stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, chopped green pepper, chopped onion, mushrooms, black olives, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch casserole dish.
  5. Add chunks of mozzarella cheese on top and cover with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Place pepperoni slices on top.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
