Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread
  • 3 oz. grated cheese
  • 2 lb. sausage
  • 1 cup drained mushrooms
  • 1 cup mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  1. Layer half of the bread, grated cheese, and browned sausage in a 3-quart baking dish; repeat the layers.
  2. Combine drained mushrooms, mushroom soup, and 1/4 cup of milk; pour over the layered mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs with 2 1/4 cups of milk and mustard; pour this mixture over the casserole.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Bake uncovered at 300°F for 45 minutes until golden and set.
