Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup half and half

Instructions

  1. Combine all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Stir in shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and half and half together.
  5. Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork just until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  7. Knead 3-4 times, then roll into a ball.
