Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. sharp cheese, grated
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1 egg white, slightly beaten
  • pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Combine the grated sharp cheese and softened butter in a mixing bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the all-purpose flour, red pepper, and paprika to the cheese and butter mixture. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured board.
  4. Cut the dough into rounds using a cookie cutter or glass.
  5. Place the rounds on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Brush the tops of each round with the slightly beaten egg white.
  7. Top each with a pecan half.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) until light brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.
