Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons bacon drippings
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 small onions
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Cut steak into pieces, about 1/2-inch thick.
  2. Combine beaten egg, milk, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper to make the coating mixture.
  3. Dip each steak piece into the egg mixture, then into bread crumbs to coat.
  4. Brown the coated meat in bacon drippings until browned on all sides.
  5. Add water to the skillet; sprinkle with oregano.
  6. Place 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese on each piece of meat.
  7. Arrange small onions on top of the meat and cheese.
  8. Cover and cook at 325°F (163°C) for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
