Ingredients

  • 1 package Pillsbury Plus white cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, 6 tablespoons of margarine, and 1 cup of rolled oats; mix until crumbly.
  4. Reserve 1 cup of crumbs for topping.
  5. To the remaining crumbs, add 1 egg; mix well.
  6. Press the mixture into the prepared pan.
  7. Pour the cherry pie filling over the crust.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the reserved crumbs, remaining 1/4 cup rolled oats, 2 tablespoons margarine, chopped nuts, and brown sugar to make the topping.
  9. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the cherry filling.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Cool before cutting into squares and serving.
