- Beat egg whites until stiff.
- Beat egg yolks into cooled milk-farina-sugar mixture.
- Add cherries, ground almonds or hazelnuts, butter, cinnamon, and grated lemon rind to the mixture.
- Gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
- Pour the batter into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 1 hour.
