Hot Mushroom Canapes

Creamy mushroom canapes with chive-flavored cream cheese atop crispy melba toast, perfect for elegant appetizers or gatherings that delight with savory flavors and crunchy textures.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese with chives
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 small can or jar sliced mushrooms
  • 1 box Old English melba toast rounds (garlic flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven if you wish to warm the canapes, or serve immediately.
  2. Spread the cream cheese with chives evenly over each melba toast round.
  3. Drain the sliced mushrooms and chop them if desired.
  4. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. Mix the egg yolk into the sautéed mushrooms.
  8. Top each prepared melba toast with the mushroom mixture.
  9. Optionally, bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to warm through.
  10. Serve immediately or at room temperature.
