Ingredients

  • 14 oz. shortening
  • 1 lb. 8 oz. brown sugar
  • 12 oz. rolled oats
  • 1 lb. flour
  • 4 tsp. soda
  • 4 lb. 8 oz. cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and brown sugar together for 10 minutes.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: rolled oats, flour, and soda.
  3. Add the dry mixture to the creamed shortening and sugar mixture.
  4. Mix at low speed until crumbly.
  5. Spread two-thirds of the dough on a greased 18 x 26-inch baking pan.
  6. Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the dough.
  7. Cover with the remaining dough and pat down gently.
  8. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 40 minutes.
