Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and sugar together.
  2. Add vanilla to the creamed mixture.
  3. Stir in eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
  4. Add flour and chopped nuts to the mixture.
  5. Mix everything well to form a thick batter.
  6. Spread three-fourths of the batter evenly in an ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  7. Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the batter.
  8. Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls on top of the filling.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
  10. Allow the pastry to cool completely after baking.
  11. Cut into squares for serving.
  12. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
