Ingredients

  • 1 c. soft butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 to 5 egg yolks
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Spread the dough out on a cookie sheet and make edges up the sides.
  2. Cover the dough with cherry pie filling.
  3. Beat egg whites until stiff.
  4. Gradually add 6 tablespoons of sugar while continuing to beat.
  5. Spread the meringue over the cherry filling and sprinkle with ground nuts.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
