- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Place a 2-quart pan on the burner, add butter, and melt over low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Turn off the burner.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, coconut, and chopped peanuts and mix well.
- Add melted butter to the dry mixture and mix until evenly combined.
- Spoon the mixture into an ungreased baking pan, scraping the bowl to get all the mixture.
- Press the mixture evenly into the pan to form a compact layer.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Turn off the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the warm bars.
- Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate chips smoothly over the surface.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into 30 pieces.
