Ingredients

  • 2 c. half and half
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 10 basic buttermilk biscuits

Instructions

  1. Combine half and half and butter in a heavy saucepan; cook over medium heat until butter melts.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  3. Combine eggs, sugar, and cocoa; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually stir in the half and half mixture; set aside.
  5. Crumble biscuits into a lightly greased 2-quart shallow baking dish.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the crumbled biscuits.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cover with aluminum foil after 35 minutes to prevent overbrowning.
