Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Dump all ingredients except hot water into a mixing bowl at one time.
  2. Mix the ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Add the boiling water last and beat immediately until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured pan.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
