Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Line the loaf pan with wax paper.
  4. Grease the wax paper.
  5. Mix all ingredients well until combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
  8. Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  10. Remove from the pan and let it cool completely before slicing.
