Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • Cream Cheese Filling (recipe follows)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add water, vegetable oil, eggs, vinegar, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Spoon heaping teaspoonfuls of Cream Cheese Filling over the batter.
  8. Sprinkle with nuts.
  9. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes.
