Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 (6 oz.) package chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Mix sifted flour, baking powder, 1 cup sugar, and 3 teaspoons cinnamon.
  2. Add butter or oleo, shortening, 1 egg, and 1 egg yolk. Blend well and pour into a lightly greased jellyroll pan; spread evenly with a spatula.
  3. Beat the egg white slightly and brush over the surface of the mixture.
  4. Combine remaining 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, chocolate chips, and walnuts; sprinkle over the top.
  5. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.
  6. Cool and cut into bars.
