- Add butter or oleo, shortening, 1 egg, and 1 egg yolk. Blend well and pour into a lightly greased jellyroll pan; spread evenly with a spatula.
- Beat the egg white slightly and brush over the surface of the mixture.
- Combine remaining 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, chocolate chips, and walnuts; sprinkle over the top.
- Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.
- Cool and cut into bars.
