Chocolate Rugalach are flaky, buttery pastries filled with ground chocolate and nuts, perfect for sharing at gatherings or enjoying as a sweet treat with coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup ground walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup ground semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, cream 1 cup butter with cream cheese.
  2. Add flour and salt; blend until dough begins to hold together.
  3. Gather the dough into a bowl, transfer to a floured surface, and knead until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 parts, wrap each in plastic wrap, and chill.
