- Add vanilla, Karo syrup, and egg to the butter mixture and mix until well blended.
- Refrigerate the dough until it is firm, about 30 minutes.
- Shape the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and roll each in additional sugar.
- Place the dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until edges are lightly browned, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Let the cookies stand for 1 minute after baking, then remove from the baking sheet.
